Three visual styles, one iconic location, and a merchandise pitch that delivered
To support Kualoa Ranch’s presence at the 2021 Las Vegas Souvenir & Gift Show, I designed three distinct merchandise programs aimed at different audience segments. Drawing inspiration from the site’s connection to Jurassic Park, each program used a unique visual style — minimalist, playful, or kid-focused — to appeal across age groups. The pitch was highly successful and resulted in the largest single purchase the buyer had made with Charles Products.
For Adults: Clean, Iconic, Timeless
For general adult visitors, I created a merchandise line that feels elevated and refined while still inspired by Kualoa Ranch’s lush landscapes and adventurous spirit. The minimalist dinosaur artwork focuses on clean shapes, limited color palettes, and thoughtful placement on everyday products like water bottles and mugs. The result is an understated collection that feels versatile and wearable for visitors of all ages.
For Young Adults: Playful with Personality
For young adults interested in fun, memorable souvenirs from their visit, I developed a series of cartoon T-rex characters engaged in local activities like surfing and hula. These character designs were applied across shirts, enamel pins, and stickers to create a playful range of merch that feels energetic but still tied to the location’s identity. The bright expressions and cheeky poses bring a lighthearted personality to the collection.
For Kids: Bright, Friendly, and Full of Wonder
To appeal to children and families, I created a baby dinosaur collection with cheerful patterns and character-driven illustrations on items like backpacks and bedding. Soft forms, vibrant colors, and approachable creatures make this line instantly lovable for younger audiences. The designs capture a sense of wonder and play that reflects the excitement kids feel exploring Kualoa Ranch.
